Independent Book Review: Professional Manager reviews New Leaders Wanted
New Leaders Wanted: Now Hiring! Reviewed by Professor Bruce Lloyd FCMI For Professional Manager Magazine - Issue Jan. 08
The author - who practiced as a psychiatrist for many years before holding senior leadership positions in top business organisations and now leads The Chalfont Project Ltd, an international consulting group of organisational architects -believes that there are 12 new kinds of people that organisations cannot afford not to have around - i.e. find, seduce, hire and create a job for.
These people are redefined as: Re-constructors of elephants; Signal spotters; Space & time architects; Rightbrainers; HCIF managers; Lead(brok)ers; Riders of the network; Chaordic acrobats; Disruptors; Butterfly managers; Conquistadores and Talki-Walkers.
This book is fun, thought-provoking and provides plenty of useful insights. But it is still an open question whether there is a clear disconnect between the sense that this 'current-future' is very different from the past and the types of people and skills that companies really should be looking for in today's competitive market place.
